MLK Day Events For The Whole Family
From free parks to parades, there are many ways to honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We’ve rounded up some awesome free events in and around our community for your consideration.
9:30 a.m. to Noon | Free
March starts at the San Francisco Caltrain Station and ends at the MLK Jr. Festival at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts & Garden, which includes a film festival, a comix arts expo, lectures, and a wellness fair. View the full MLK Birthday Celebration schedule of events here.
9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. | Free but an RSVP is required
Unity Park Community Plaza, Richmond
Bring the whole family out for a day of cleaning up the Richmond Greenway. Equipment is provided, but you should bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated.
All Day | Free
This includes Yosemite, Muir Woods National Monument (parking and shuttle reservations are still required), as well as the historic ships in the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park at Hyde Street Pier. (FYI: Our Day Rates are discounted right now, $69 for Hybrids on weekdays and $59 for Electric Gigs every day).

San Francisco City Guides is offering a full slate of tours on MLK weekend Saturday through Monday. Tours start from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and there are a bunch to choose from, including Pacific Heights Mansions, Fort Mason to Aquatic Park, Downtown Deco, Billionaire’s Row: Outer Broadway Architecture, 1906: Earthquake And Fire, and many more.

9 a.m. – 12 p.m. followed by a Diversity Expo. | Free
The march starts at Sacramento City College and does a loop around Land Park, ending back at SCC for a Diversity Expo, showcasing what people are doing to make a positive impact in our community and world.
